I suppose this is the big news on the ER blogs today, the first ever state by state report card on the State of Emergency Medicine. Each state is rated in four areas, Access, patient safety, Public Health and Medical Liability. To quote from the site:

t is important to note that the grades are reflective of each state’s effort to support effective emergency medical care systems. They are not an evaluation of emergency physicians, hospitals or the care provided in emergency departments.

Click here for an overview map of the nation and hover over your state. Scary? You bet!
